Transparency about where map data and geographic calculations come from.
Printable map sources
Current preview outlines use Natural Earth public-domain low-resolution boundaries. The geometry is generalized, has a data vintage, and may not reflect detailed islands, administrative borders or current contested boundaries. Natural Earth documents the underlying dataset.
Distance and area calculations
Core tools use a spherical mean Earth radius of 6,371,008.8 m and browser-side coordinates to estimate geodesic paths, radius circles or polygon areas. These are not actual driving routes or certified land surveys.
File privacy
Current GIS converters process supported file types in the browser, not through a file-upload server endpoint. Third-party map tile providers may still receive network requests.
