Editorial Policy
Our editorial standards focus on useful, accurate and transparent geographic information.

Research and data sourcing
Prefer original source documentation, recognized geographic datasets and official statistical agencies. Common sources include Natural Earth for small-scale world outlines, the US Census Bureau for US geographic products, and USGS for certain terrain reference data. A source is cited only when the actual file, request or methodology has been used or reviewed.
Data years and comparisons
Country borders, county records, population estimates and administrative divisions may refer to different years and geographic definitions. Every comparison should state its definitions, source date and calculation method. Do not blend historic and current values without warning.
Editorial labels and bylines
Content may be drafted with software assistance but must be verified before being presented as reviewed. We do not invent a named author, cartographer or expert review. The website publisher is My Blank Maps; reviewer identities appear only after independently confirmed approval.
Tools and calculations
Tool pages should specify what the results measure and what they do not: radius versus driving time, geodesic distance versus road distance, modeled elevation versus surveyed benchmarks, and GIS conversions that may lose unsupported properties.
Corrections and changes
To report an error, email [email protected] with the URL, disputed value and original source. Material corrections should include what changed, when, why and which pages or datasets were affected. See our Corrections page.
